Spark wire

$

Hi all.

The spark wire of cylinder 1 have a cut in it and want to cut out a piece.
But my question is:

-Do the original spark wires have copper inside or carbon?

-Can you screw the spark plug off and on again? Or is it one piece.

The only thing I want to do is shorten the Motorcraft wire cable without buying parts. Is that possible?

This is the set i have. That model spark plugs.
From Motorcraft but I don't know any part/article number because it isn't on the wire.

Thx for reply

No heat & high temperature in 2000 Taurus

The past couple weeks I noticed the heater in my car only puts out heat for about 15 seconds then blows cold. Then last night I started it up from a cold engine and within seconds the engine temperature gauge was 3/4 of the way up toward the HOT. I don't recall it ever being this high before.

Are these two things related? What are possible causes?

Car only has 83K miles but seems to be having more and more problems lately.

Thanks for feedback.

No start, relay and fuel pump noise

A couple of weeks ago when I wanted to start the car I experienced a buzzing sound from the module in front of the radiator and won't start. Years back when my fuel pump went I had this buzzing and it was the fuel pump. Now I thought it was time to replace the fuel pump again which I did. I got an aftermarket pump and from the start it sounded very loud. I drove the car for maybe ten days and yesterday again, the buzzing sound, no start. I decided it was a bad pump, returned it and got one from Ford, not OEM because they had no stock but they recommended othe brand, quite reliable they said. So today I put the pump in,
tried to prime it but again, relay buzzing in the module and I can hear the pump running as well. I have a spare module so I thought I try it but it is the same.e. Any ideas where to look to fix this? This is 1994 Mercury Sable 3.8. Thanks.

Bought the '94 SHO instead of Leasing 2015 FOCUS

Today I registered and became a member of the TCCA. Interesting story on how I became a new SHO owner, in fact a proud and lucky owner of a 1994 SHO. I never looked twice at this car as I wasn't keen to what was under the hood. I recently sold a 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis which I have owned since 2004 with 50K when on the clock when I bought it and LOVED that car and the value. A lot to be said for 2 wheel Rear Drive. That car took me over high deserts in Nevada with talcum powder roads and never let me down. Great road car, great mileage for an 8. Great engine, comfort and features. However, my wife wanted a smaller car so I sold the GEM and bought her a car. But now I was stuck with the Freestyle, nice car, but not the enthusiast car I was going to be happy with. I decided to go shop around and I was intrigued with the Ford Focus and I had heard an ad on the radio about a $99.00 a month LEASE and $900.00 down and I would be a new car owner. But the snag was in the details and when the dealer would not commit to paper EXACTLY what my payments would be in a timely fashion, I began to look elsewhere. I have been reading up on cars in HEMMINGS Classic Car mags and watching Jay Leno's Garage and came upon an article about the SHO, and was blown away by this SLEEPER. I never had any idea of what the SHO was except a Mustang SVT or such offering. When I saw it's body style, I went shopping and when I took the test drive, I was hoooooked. These cars are a smile generator and sleepy looking. Love that. I have a project car and hope the community will help me sort out my new keeper. Looking forward to the ownership!

Looking forward to this site. I have an '02 SE Wagon w/ only 94k miles that I just bought. Great shape considering the age. Had a previous one (same year), and it has 358k miles, whooo-hooo! It was a work car with lots of highway miles on it, but it is going to be retired now......

I purchased a 05 Mercury Sable LS in August of 2014. I would like to put money into it and customize it but when i google things its hard to find something neat for me. I found this website and it looks pretty helpful. So far Ive put window tint all around my vehicle and put a system. However just recently made the tint legal and removed the subs to upgrade to something different. Projects im looking forward to are suspensions, wheels and tires, and i would like to find a website that sells aftermarket headlights, I'm having trouble finding any cool ones. stuff like that im a real guy and i got ol betsy right out my window:lol2:

Key fob, VERY short range

I just installed a new SJB/GEM in my wife's 2005 Taurus. Originally it was a fleet car, without RKE, but this replacement SJB/GEM has RKE capabilities. So, we got a key fob via Ebay, and put a brand new battery in it. I programmed it to the car and it works, but the range is only about a two feet. You have to be in the car, holding the key fob near the floor for it to work.

My question is, is there something else that needs to be hooked up, or added to the car to increase the range, or do I have a defective key fob?

Exhaust leaking at flange from Y pipe to rear converter with new gasket

Replaced entire exhaust from rear converter, resonator pipe, short curved extension pipe, and muffler on a 2005 wagon with Duratec DOHC engine.
Used all Walker parts including a new metal gasket at the flange from the Y pipe (the front 2 converters going to the exhaust manifolds). Walker diagram called for a 31616 metal gasket at the flange and I dug out the old one from the Y pipe flange. Besides this gasket a lot of small curved pieces looking like a disintegrated gasket came out of the round groove in the Y pipe flange. The flange on the OEM connection to the rear converter and the new exact fit Walker replacement is smooth with no groove in it. The old converter flange had 2 staked or threaded bolts or studs, and I had to saw one of them off as the nut had rusted to almost nothing. The new converter flange seemed to fit perfectly but it had 2 holes and no studs or bolts, so I procured 2 bolts, nuts and lockwashers and bolted the 2 flanges together tightly.
Started the car and checked for exhaust leaks. The other 3 connections are sealed with 2 1/4" clamps and they appeared to not be leaking.

Is there another gasket besides the one I put in that takes up the rest of the space in the groove on the Y pipe flange?

How do you seal this connection?_

The force of air coming threw the vent on my 02 sable GS seems really weak, my 99 Taurus has good strong air flow. Is a the blower motor the problem?

HD Radio

I have a 2014 SEL with my ford touch. The manual is not very clear about it having HD radio. Do any of you know if I am supposed to have HD? The radio does not display any type of HD button or info.

I would think that with this technology, HD would be standard.

Thanks

CAN bus transceiver

So I am working on making a CAN bus transceiver to eliminate the need for channel summing devices. It reads the data from the bus, and uses it along with the two channel signal from the head unit to "create" a set of RCA pre-outs. I plan to use digitally adjustable resistors as opposed to ADC to DAC. I feel pretty confident i'll have it working by summers end, and if anyone has tried a similar project i'd be glad to hear some input.

Found a 1996 sho not running. Ideas

I found a 96 sho for sale not running. they say it needs a fuel pump it stop running. The transmission and the car looks good with a rust spot here and there. I might get it and swap every thing to that one. mine is rusted to crap in the rockers and dogleg. So the question is with 160,000 you think the trans been rebuilt or on its way out. And hopefully the motor is fine.

Tired of tire shine over spray on rims? Look inside!

$

So I like many others have grown tired of the extra step required when using tire shine. The over spray causes unneeded and potentially harmful buildup on your wheels from tire shine. I went to a local grocery store and picked up the following items.

Liberty Flat Black 3-1/2" Front Mount Hammercraft Pull - Walmart.com

I used a cloth measuring tape to draw a circle that matched the circumference of the wheels on my bull (19"). Then just cut the excess foam board away. I used the hardware that came with the cabinet handle to fasten the handle to the foam board. I would suggest using 2 sided tape as the screws to poke through to the other side of the board and could potentially scratch painted/chrome rims if you are not careful.

Then just hold the foam board over your wheels while you are spraying. There will be a small amount of over spray but nothing like there would be if you used nothing at all.

Just thought I would share this so others could make one if they want.
